INTERNET SAFETY AND KIDS ONLINE

While the internet can be helpful and resourceful it can also be DANGEROUS. I have encountered quite a few cases of missing people where in some instances, the person was known to have met somebody online.  Young girls in particular seem to come up in this category and Im sure in most cases parents do tell them about the dangers of strangers. 
 
I wanted to include this link so that everyone is aware of the dangers on the internet.

My site for Missing People may not be an attractive or interesting subject for young people and because of that they might not click in here to read but I want to advise everyone young and old to beware of who you are talking to when you are on the internet.  You dont KNOW that person if you just met them. You dont know what they are really like. Yes, they may sound nice or they might seem to share your interests, they might even share a photo, but does that make them 'safe' COMPANY for you?  No it does not.
 
When I see more and more teenagers who have only hit 13 disappearing 'with a man' I shake my head in disbelief BECAUSE all children SHOULD KNOW about the internet and the falsity of situations and be aware before they are even allowed online.
 
Please make sure that you KNOW WHAT YOUR CHILDREN ARE DOING. There are various ways to make sure and I want you to read the link provided so that YOUR CHILD IS NOT NEXT.

When we are young, we are just dipping our toe into the world pool arena. Life can seem SO exciting, when we first wear make up, high heels or as young boys we feel fresh and alive and want to get out there and join the crowd.  We want to socialise, have friends and be popular.  

Everyday we have tv adverts telling us what we should look like, what we should wear, what we should buy, what is hip and cool and we just want to be 'like that'.  Theres a sense of wanting to belong.
Social netsworks give us Facebook, Myspace and many other ways of interacting with friends and other people.  There are always privacy elements to these that can set to protect your pictures and private information.

However, I see hundreds of pictures of girls posing and pouting into their iphones and posting these pictures online!!  Whenever I see them I am actually quite annoyed. DOES THAT MAKE ME A FUDDY DUDDY?  yes it would in young peoples eyes, but some young people do not realise that they are ADVERTISING THEMSELVES to possible BAD PEOPLE.  There are BAD PEOPLE out there who may try and befriend you because you posted a picture of yourself that is considered to be an invitation.

You KNOW you did not picture yourself as an invitation but TELL THAT TO THE BAD PEOPLE - they surf the internet for pictures just like yours for their own gratification.

PLEASE DO NOT PUT PICTURES OF YOURSELF ONLINE that have this kind of provacation.  EVEN IF ITS HIP to look that way DONT DO IT!!   you open yourself up to weirdos and oddballs who are only too willing to feel that your picture is telling them something specifically.  

PROTECT YOURSELF AT ALL TIME - do not post pictures of this nature and do not post any pictures of young children online or give away all your family information and details.
